Making Things Happen in 2014: Part 4—Get Radical

First off, Happy New Year!  I hope you are dreaming big and getting things in line to do so. Well, it's back at it again!  Lara Casey's  2014 Goal Setting blog series has been great. I feel like I have grown a little with each blog post. I feel hopeful and exciting for new things and for  God's fulfillment this year on the promises that were spoken over me last year. I had said that my work for 2014 is Faith, and I  am holding onto those promises with faith to know that God will fulfill those promises because ,"Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her." -Luke 1:45

Alright. So let's continue with:

STEP 10: Plant Seeds. Create Legacy.

A plant cannot grown unless a seed is first planted but seeds also need the right conditions to truly flourish.  My heart is automatically drawn back to the Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13:1-23. The best  place for a seed to be planted is on fertile soil; only then will it be able to produce a harvest. I want to be able to plant good seeds. But what do those good seeds look like?

Below is a list of some of the  seeds that I want to plant in others:

  • Love
  • Sincerity
  • Encouragement
  • Kindness
  • Patience
  • Faith
  • Goodness
  • Generosity
  • Happiness
  • Random acts of kindness

I don't have children yet but I know that I want to be able to leave a legacy for them. One thing for sure is to put together a cookbook for them for their wedding day. My husband and I actually talked about this the other day. After ready about Lara mentioned that she created "A Handbook For Life" for her sweet daughter,Grace, I  already knew that was something that I want to do.

STEP 11: Define Your "RADICAL"

When I first saw the word "radical" I thought "oh no, I am not getting a pixie cut and drying my hair."  But I saw that Lara pointed out that we get to define what our "radical" is. So with that said, I know my one radical is to get out of debt. These amount that my husband and I have to pay on our school loans is ridiculous. I don't want to be 35 still paying on school loans. Last year we had the opportunity to take a Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University  and it really put things in perspective to us as far as our finances are concerned. In order to move into the direction of this "radical" choice, we need to complete our baby step and snowballing our school loan payments so we can eventually live like no one else and be able to bless  others. Even the smallest action of buying generic over name-brand or buying sale items or simply using coupons is a step in the right direction to elimination our school loan debt.

STEP 12: Sing Loud

Music has  a way of touching a heart, lifting spirits, igniting inspiration and so much more. This might be a hard one for me but here are a list of songs that can suffice for my song for 2014 (look out for a post on my main song in the future):

  • "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)" by Hillsong
  • "Running  in Circles" by United Pursuit Band
  • "Give Me Faith" by Elevation Worship

There may be a few more songs to the list that I can't think of at the moments. I think this may need some prayerful consideration as to what my 2014 theme song is so-to-speak and that detailed explanation will come with it.
