Currently in March.

It has been a crazy month and I can't believe it's going to be April next week. The first quarter of the year has already gone by and it seems like yesterday was just January.  Last week was so busy for me so forgive me with not updating on The Blog. But better late than never and why not post a blog on a Saturday?  Here's what's been going on in March:

…on staining a 3 drawer dresser that I purchased from IKEA a couple weeks ago.  I definitely wanted new night stands and this 3 drawer dresser definitely fit for what I wanted.  Also, the fact that it is made our of pine is great. I love that most of Ikea’s furniture is customizable and I am truly going to enjoy making these nightstands for our bedroom. I definitely want to keep the integrity of the wood grain and decided that I want to stain it rather than paint it a solid color. I also know that I want it to be a nice grey stainand I am currently testing out the look I want to have. I definitely want it to be a little darker with a modern-look to it instead of it looking more like a gray-washed antique piece—not so much my style. But hopefully if I mix a couple of stains I can achieve the overall look that I am looking for.

…my time. Life gets busy. Especially when you work a main job and are working hard to build a photography business. It also doesn’t get any easier when teaching a small group once a week, attending meetings, making time for friends, running errands, maintaining a clean home and then some. It gets busy fast. But when you realize that you are having a hard time finding the time to clean the one bowl that is in the sink or when you don’t have time to relax —that is the time that you know you need to start prioritizing your time. In all honestly, I have failed to stay on top of writing blog posts and being consistent because life got super busy after a week of vacation.   I quickly realized that I can’t let this happen and that I need to prioritize my time.

Prioritizing also has to do with being intentional. Yesterday and today, I could have sat down and watched tv all night but I knew that there were other things that I could have been doing. There was lots of laundry that needed to be folded and a kitchen that needed to be spruced up. Two of the main things that I didn't get to this week. So, Ijumped up and got it done. It was one productive evening last night after work. I cleaned the kitchen and ran the dishwasher and threwa load of laundry in before going to the movies with friends. After the movie, I could have watched tv for the rest of the nightbut instead, I was intentional with my time and read a book until I got tired.  This morning was pretty productive as well as I folded all the laundry, made breakfast, made dinner for the hubby to take to work, baked cookies, and even put a coat of stain on one drawer of the dresser.  I call that a #saturdaywin.

…with a thankful heart. This past week was teacher appreciate week. I am so blessed to be a part ofschool family whose PTF is so gracious to us. All the staff and teachers wereblessed with lunch every day last week. Who wouldn’t be thankful for Chick-fil-a , Chipotle, Jersey Mike’s, Olive Garden, and homemade soups, salads and desserts?? The icing on the cake was definitely the generosity of the school families. All the staff and teachers were presented withbags, complete with gift cards, snacks, classroom items, books and more.  Such a beautiful blessing from people who care.

I have been pinning a bunch of ideas for our bedroom, guest room, living room—basically our whole apartment. It's definitely pretty difficult to decorate when all I want to do it put some paint on the walls!  But there are definitely ways around it.  There are days that I feel amped about decorating and other days where I just can't wait to get out of a rental and into a home of my own. Don't get me wrong, I like our apartment a whole lot and pinning ideas for decorating gives me hope!

What have you been up to?
